blasted Murphy!

well folks, i'm pretty convinced that the weather in London is conspiring against me. my mom has this idea that in accordance with Murphy's law, if she wears shorts and a t-shirt she will cause it to rain, while if she wears long pants and a warm jacket the sun is sure to shine. well mom, unfortunately it seems that i have now developed a similar knack for conforming to that blasted law. ever since i started working, my last work day in the week will always be gorgeously sunny and breezy, and as i look longingly out the window at the beautiful leaves swirling in the crisp autumn air i'll think, "tomorrow Matt and i will have to finally get out for a walk by the river before the weather gets too bad. yes, it will be perfect!" so i get all excited and imagine us sauntering along the banks of the Thames the next day, with the warm sun filtering down through the changing colours of the trees. and then i wake up the next morning on my much anticipated day off, and what do i see peeking through the curtains? not blue sky-- oh no, because Murphy has struck again! every day we've been planning to have a nice walk, it has been miserable and dreary and wet out. now, granted, there isn't necessarily any reason why this sort of weather should prevent us from having a nice walk-- in fact, today we were planning on getting out there and enjoying the outdoors despite the rain, but once we had been out in it to do a few errands, we were just getting wet and cold. so we opted for a nice hot cup of tea at home instead and admitted yet another defeat to the formidable, and evidently malevolent, Murphy.

I'm not sure why it took me so long to actually read your blog... but I just read every single post and laughed and cried and had a generally emotional experience. Caitlin... aren't you glad I told you to be a server? You'll get the hang of it I'm sure.

Miss you both terribly!!!
